On the 29th of March, 2019 AW-Drones attended the JARUS Plenary meeting in Katowice, Poland. Marco Ducci, Deputy Project Coordinator, presented AW-Drones on behalf of the Consortium.
JARUS is the Joint Authority for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems. It comprises experts from the National Aviation Authorities, EASA, EUROCONTROL, and regional aviation safety organizations. JARUS brings together almost 60 countries, and several industry representatives providing their advice. Its purpose is to recommend a set of technical, safety and operational requirements for the certification and integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems into airspace.
Engaging with international experts is one of AW-Drones primary goal. In fact, involvement of key stakeholders ensures that the whole drone community accepts, and benefits from, the project results. This presentation marks the beginning of a fruitful collaboration with JARUS. In the future, regular briefings from the project are planned, and many JARUS experts will be involved in the AW-Drones Advisory Board.
