AW-Drones is an H2020 project that contributes to the harmonisation of the EU drone regulations and standards. The project supports the European Union rulemaking process for the definition of rules, technical standards, and procedures for civilian drones to enable safe and reliable operations in the EU Open and Specific categories.

In particular, to support the regulatory process the project is providing a repository of “best practices”. In order to do so, AW-Drones involves key stakeholders in workshops where they can look at the project results to assess if the current available standards, rules and procedures are effective in ensuring safety of drone operations, or need adjustments.

The “Technical standards to support U-Space implementation in Europe” workshop

The 2nd AW-Drones workshop is dedicated to “Technical Standards to Support U-Space Implementation in Europe”.
Primarily, its objective is to present stakeholders with the identification and mapping between relevant standards and U-Space regulatory requirements, so that they can identify priorities and needs for its implementation in Europe. Therefore, the workshop’s results will contribute to the EU rulemaking process for the adoption of the appropriate standards in support of U-Space. In addition, this workshop will provide you the chance to make your voice heard. In fact, participants will have the opportunity to share their views with the project team, Standard Design Organizations experts, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and the Project Officers from the European Commission.

Who should attend

The AW-Drones Project workshop is open to everybody to attend. However, we address in particular a specific audience active in the fields of law-making, aviation, and drone-related activities. For example:

  • Standard making bodies
  • Regulators
  • Drone manufacturers
  • Drone operators
  • U-Space and UAS related service providers
  • Research and academia
